I have been watching Seinfeld for a few times, some episodes may have been on Television three times, and although there is something about the actor and creator that is not exactly charming, the show was such a massive success https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/12/the-seinfeld-scripts-by-jerry-seinfeld.html

 

Some things may apply to my present state- we were speaking about the Uncle Leo episode, where he takes a book from the shop and he does not pay for it – at least that is how I remember it – and then Jerry does something about it, tells the shop assistant, and they catch the poor man, and he has this lesson…

Nevertheless, Uncle Leo protests – ‘I am an old man’ seemingly using the excuse that he had not known what he had been doing, and indeed, I am sixty-two now and find that I forget quite a number of things, though I still know I can quote Andrei Plesu https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2023/11/despre-bucurie-in-est-si-vest-aka-about.html

 

He is maybe our smartest luminary, and he was talking about old age, how we should not go on uninvited and tell stories about the past, but we can also benefit from the fact that after reaching a threshold, we should not be so worried about a spot on the tie, things like that, I do not know about Uncle Leo though, if he was right or wrong

A sense of humor is included in the ‘transcendence’ category by Martin Seligman, co -founder of Positive Psychology https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/01/flourish-by-martin-seligman.html  he has identified groups of character strengths and having a sense of humor is essential, especially in the world of today

 

In Is This Anything – and probably elsewhere – Jerry Seinfeld makes a very good point when he talks about Golf and translates it to Go Out Leave Family and it reminded me of a cartoon, in which this man thinks about golf when he is at work, on the course, he thinks about sex, and while having sex he thinks about work

Carpe Diem, the cartoon was used in a marvelous book by Sonja Lyubomirsky https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/07/the-myths-of-happiness-by-sonja.html and we have to find a balance, The Golden Mean explained by Aristotle and others, live in the present, without disregarding the future…

  In The Fade aka Auf Dem Nichts, written by Hark Bohm and Fatih Akin In The Fade has won the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film, although in this cinephile's opinion, Una Mujer Fantastica- which has won the Oscar in the same category- Nelyubov or The Square would have been better choices. Having said that, Auf Dem Nichts is a very good, significant, remarkable feature, that attracts attention to violence against minorities, in this case the Kurdish community in Germany. It is therefore not one sided, we do not have only Muslim lunatics killing innocent "infidels", but also some extreme Europeans murdering the other side. The problem is that, unacceptable, horrifying and vile as these acts are, it appears that the overwhelming majority of atrocities are committed by zealots acting in the name of Islam- radical and unrepresentative as they are for this supposedly peaceful faith, although there are passages in its holy book that seem to insist on a violent jihad and ultimat...
