Flourish by Martin Seligman

 Flourish by Martin Seligman

Martin Seligman is the father of Positive Psychology. One of the major classics in this field is Authentic Happiness, which I have not read yet. It is interesting to note that, if Martin Seligman is not reneging on his earlier, fundamental, reference work, he does seem to have other ideas in Flourish.

PERMA

Is the formula we receive, with

P is for Positive Emotions, that we need to “flourish”

E stands for Engagement or the Flow as it is called in the title of another major book by Mihaly C sikszentmihalyi.

R comes from Relationships, meaningful relationships that we need for Well Being

M is for Meaning of Life

A for Achievements

Seligman gives the names of a few movies that are “positive”: Groundhog Day, Field of Dreams, .but also The Devil Wears Prada –which I have found boring- and Sunday in the Park with George…

I will continue to write about this book... one of these days
