Reading about killers, or watching the stupendous The Killer, with fabulous Michael Fassbinder in the leading role may seem like the wrong idea, in a world that has some nasty wars taking place in Ukraine, Gaza, Sudan, Myanmar, and the danger is that they might be expanding, as it is, Iran is attacking the USA, through its proxies Hezbollah, Houthis in Yemen (they have launched missiles) and militias in Iraq and Syria

It all depends on how good the author is, what the adaptation looks like, cast, director, you could have a magnum opus that is a crime story, such as Crime and Punishment http://realini.blogspot.com/2020/06/crime-and-punishment-by-fyodor.html by Fyodor Dostoyevsky - an algorithm has recently looked at various relevant compilations and established the 50 Greatest Novels and the story of Raskolnikov is on it, together with other astounding works, Marcel Proust is at number one

The Killer starts by spending a lot of time in a flat, in Paris, not far from the Eiffel Tower, looking across the street, to where his target is, waiting for the best moment, when his powerful rifle could have the man in the cross hairs and then dispatch him, only there is something that interferes between them

The would be victim has invited a stripper, or sex worker that does some erotic dance, and as the latter is performing, The Killer thinks it is the right moment – he has a special watch that monitors his heart rate, actually, all smart watches do that these days, some will even offer more data on the activity of the heart – which would be when the heart beats with about sixty three per minute, if the memory does not play a trick

However, the woman is making an unexpected move and bang, she is the one to drop, shot dead, presumably, and then the guards come in, curtains are drawn, The protagonist has to pack, run for cover, to the airport, then on the plane to The Dominican Republic –by the way, I am reading The Feast of the Goat, by Nobel Prize Winner Mario Vargas Llosa  http://realini.blogspot.com/2022/05/the-way-to-paradise-by-mario-vargas.html and the Feat takes place in the same Dominican Republic

As he enters his lavish mansion, there are clear signs that something terrible has happened there, and indeed, a contract has obviously been made, and other paid killers have been inside, where they have found only the lover, a woman that we find in the hospital, bruised, with stiches, one eye is closed, maybe permanently damaged, though she declares that she had told them nothing, in spite of the beatings

She mentions a green cab, and hence The Killer is off to work, finding the driver that had taken the man and the woman - spoiler alert, I think the female was Tilda Swinton, an actress I have an allergy to, she has almost spoiled the adaptation of the tremendous, magnetic, exotic, mesmerizing The Beach http://realini.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-beach-by-alex-garland.html by Alex Garland, one of the top five adventure books, if you ask me – to question him for details that would lead to the capture and elimination of the foes.

Alas, after the young man explains how he took them from a private airport, then had to wait in the jungle, he is shot dead by the protagonist, who shows no mercy and throughout this clever narrative explains what he and you, as one in general have to do to avoid trouble, lessons like ‘stick to the plan, do not improvise’

We know from all the multitude of other crime films we have seen, that they have to leave no witnesses, so that would explain the taxi driver, only we do not stop here…we are moved along in chapters, The Dominican is the refuge, then we get to the Lawyer in New Orleans (was it there, I wonder)

The professional buys many items from the store, garbage bin, special tools, then he walks into the office of the lawyer, wants the names of those he has to take revenge on – it has to be more than that, it is also a question of eliminating further disturbance, yet another visit that could be deadly, next time –

Torture is used, a perforating instrument gives the lawyer only a brief time (was it 50 seconds) before death, so he has to spill ‘out the beans’, to be allowed an emergency 911 call, only he is still dead in the end – a vicious joke come to mind, from Prizzi’s Honour http://realini.blogspot.com/2017/02/note-on-prizzis-honor-directed-by-john.html where Jack Nicholson is also a professional hit man, and he says about a foe ‘is he was so fucking smart, how come he is so fucking dead?’

The secretary, a poor lady of about fifty, tries to escape the fate, however aware she is that begging would not help, familiar with what these people do, she wants her daughter to benefit from insurance (something along these lines) and would like her body to be recovered, maybe our ‘friend ‘is nice enough to accept that

Then he has to have a fight with a huge gorilla, as in another murderous beast, packed full with protein and whatever else they use and abuse (there is a lot of humor here, on these body builders, The Killers laments the energy drinks consumption, or something, his dead pan tone is superb, felicitous and so much else) with the result of the fight pretty much in the balance, for they are both excellent in their field…

Now for a question, and invitation – maybe you have a good idea on how we could make more than a million dollars with this http://realini.blogspot.com/2022/02/unique-in-world.html?q=unique+in+the+world  – as it is, this is a unique technique, which we could promote, sell, open the Oscars show with or something and then make lots of money together, if you have the how, I have the product, I just do not know how to get the befits from it, other than the exercise per se

As for my role in the Revolution that killed Ceausescu, a smaller Mao, there it is http://realini.blogspot.com/2022/03/realini-in-newsweek-participant-in.html

Some favorite quotes from To The Heritage and other works

‘Fiction is infinitely preferable to real life...As long as you avoid the books of Kafka or Beckett, the everlasting plot of fiction has fewer futile experiences than the careless plot of reality...Fiction's people are fuller, deeper, cleverer, more moving than those in real life…Its actions are more intricate, illuminating, noble, profound…There are many more dramas, climaxes, romantic fulfillment, twists, turns, gratified resolutions…Unlike reality, all of this you can experience without leaving the house or even getting out of bed…What's more, books are a form of intelligent human greatness, as stories are a higher order of sense…As random life is to destiny, so stories are to great authors, who provided us with some of the highest pleasures and the most wonderful mystifications we can find…Few stories are greater than Anna Karenina, that wise epic by an often foolish author…’

‚parturiunt montes, nascetur ridiculus mus’

“From Monty Python - The Meaning of Life...Well, it's nothing very special...Try and be nice to people, avoid eating fat, read a good book every now and then, get some walking in, and try and live together in peace and harmony with people of all creeds and nations.”
