State Fair is one of those motion pictures that may have (it clearly does) have merit, but they are not ‘my cup of tea.

The animal is supposed to be one of the best – nay, number one – in the state, but somehow, when he reaches the State Fair, he is aloof, sits on the side, and there is speculation that he may be sick, except…there is a sow there

 

State Fair made me think of Blue Moon https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/12/blue-moon-written-by-lorenz-hart-robert.html which in my book is the best film of 2025, it would get the Academy Award for Best Picture, Best Actor in a Leading Role for Ethan Hawke, Best Screenplay, Director, for Richard Linklater, Actress in a Supporting Role for Margaret Qualley, Actor in a Supporting Role For Bobby Cannavale

 

-          State Fair is the opposite of Blue Moon

 

The former is not for me, while the latter is sophisticated, provocative, wonderful, challenging, intelligent, indeed, there is a connection in that Ethan Hawke, superb, outstanding as Lorenz Hart keeps criticizing, dismissing in fact the Oklahoma performance, with exclamation mark, as he keeps saying, and Oklahoma and State Fair are birds of a feather

Both have the same authors: Oscar Hammerstein and Richard Rodgers, Lorenz Hart had worked for so many years (maybe it was decades) with Richard Rodgers, and the Hammerstein comes into the game, and they would become the most successful team of writers, I guess it is musicals and the like, or maybe exclusively…

 

West Side Story is one of the best of the genre https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/10/west-side-story-based-on-plays-by.html perhaps the number one, but even that was not exceptional for this cinephile…granted, it is my fault, so mea culpa, even I enjoy ‘I feel pretty, oh so pretty’ and laugh when it is in

Analyze this, or maybe Anger Management, comedies of mediocre quality, even if Jack Nicholson acts in the latter, and Robert De Niro in the former, however, the part when they start singing the piece from West Side Story is jubilant, and then there is ‘I want to live in America’ – a dream some decades back, a nightmare with the Orange Ogre – and ‘Maria, Maria, I’ve just met a girl named Maria’

 

Now for my standard closing of the note with a question, and invitation – I am on Goodreads as Realini Ionescu, at least for the moment, if I keep on expressing my views on Orange Woland aka TACO, it may be a short-lived presence

 There is also the small matter of working for AT&T – this huge company asked me to be its Representative for Romania and Bulgaria, on the Calling Card side, which meant sailing into the Black Sea wo meet the US Navy ships, travelling to Sofia, a lot of activity, using my mother’s two bedrooms flat as office and warehouse, all for the grand total of $250, raised after a lot of persuasion to the staggering $400…with retirement ahead, there are no benefits, nothing…it is a longer story, but if you can help get the mastodont to pay some dues, or have an idea how it can happen, let me know
