The Concert aka Das Konzert by Hermann Bahr – when you search for Hermann Bahr on The Greatest Books of All Time site, you get Herman Hesse, presumably because the algorithm, or we should say AI, thinks you have made a mistake- https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2026/08/do-you-have-any-suggestions-how-to-make.html

8 out of 10

George Constantin https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/07/peer-gynt-by-henrik-ibsen-calling.html was the greatest thespian I have ever seen, Magister Ludi with imposing presence, emanating power and the reality distortion field that we hear Steve Jobs had, maybe others, he was a shaman, wizard, his performances were dazzling

The Concert is not a chef d’oeuvre, but the role of the doctor was given to George Constantin, and though this was adapted for The National Radio, thus we cannot see the Magister Ludi, his radiance can be felt, or least it makes me remember seeing him on stage, in The Karamazov Brothers, for instance, and other plays

Magister Ludi https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/06/the-glass-beads-game-by-herman-hesse.html was The Master of The Glass Bead Game, in the magnum opus by the Nobel Prize Winner Herman Hesse, a divine oeuvre, which makes me remember at times that we need to dedicate our time to the ‘higher things’

In Das Konzert, we have this philanderer, Doctor Gustav Heinz aka George Constantin, who takes his lover on an escapade, claiming he is off to a concert, and the husband finds out, informs the cheated wife of the doctor, and then they go to face the cheating couple, for something which looks like a charade, they claim there is love on the other side too

Influence https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/03/influence-psychology-of-persuasion.html is a classic of psychology by Robert Cialdini, and Conformity is one of the principles explained therein, the similarity makes me think of The Invite, one of the best films of 2026, Variety says it is a favorite for one of the ten nominations

For the Oscars that will be awarded in a few months, we have this couple, Olivia Wilde and Seth Rogen, who Invite Penelope Cruz and Edward Norton, they are neighbors, but they may get into some swinging action, for after the initial, amusing exchanges, revealing tensions and animosity, due to loud sex noises, the guests talk about…group sex

The Seven Principles of Making Marriage Work https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/03/the-seven-principles-of-making-marriage.html is another psychology classic, and I wonder how this will fit in The Concert, if it would affect the outcome, were the characters to know and apply those principles in their relationships

On the other hand, there is a more common strategy at play, in the…play, and that is to cause jealousy, the betrayed man and woman claim they, in their turn, love each other, and that makes the doctor reconsider his position, he does not want to lose his wife, Maria Heinz, it is what Marcel Proust observed: we want what we do not have

https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2024/12/le-temps-retrouve-by-marcel-proust.html the protagonist of the ultimate chef d’oeuvre, A La Recherche du Temps Perdu, thinks at some point about how he will display indifference, to punish the woman he loves, only when he is in that state, no longer enamored, he does not care to show anything, he is just indifferent
