Bel Ami comes out of the army, and in the first chapters, he gets the readers’ sympathy, perhaps compassion, because he is poor, without good perspectives, until he meets his former comrade, Charles Forestier, the latter is a journalist and brings in at his paper, the pauper, who does not have clothes for the invitation to come to dinner

The parallel with the present day, most offensive Orange Scoundrel does not work here, for the leader of what used to be the free world was born into a lot of money, in fact, his cult members cultivate this myth, of the successful business man, when he was just a crook https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/02/rage-by-bob-woodward-9-out-of-10.html with a series of bankruptcies behind him

 

Bel Ami becomes the lover of influent women, and he uses them in his climb on the social ladder, whereas his replica in our time had a fortune from the start, used fraudulent schemes to get more – look at the impossible, appalling amount he made in office, when he became a billionaire, one of the most corrupt

We have had this argument at the sauna, with an Israeli architect, who said that this Orange Joke is mad, but not an idiot and gave the example of the flat tire, advice from this patient in amental institution solves the problem and when asked how he could devise the solution, he retorted: ‘I am crazy, but I am not a fool’

  In The Fade aka Auf Dem Nichts, written by Hark Bohm and Fatih Akin In The Fade has won the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film, although in this cinephile's opinion, Una Mujer Fantastica- which has won the Oscar in the same category- Nelyubov or The Square would have been better choices. Having said that, Auf Dem Nichts is a very good, significant, remarkable feature, that attracts attention to violence against minorities, in this case the Kurdish community in Germany. It is therefore not one sided, we do not have only Muslim lunatics killing innocent "infidels", but also some extreme Europeans murdering the other side. The problem is that, unacceptable, horrifying and vile as these acts are, it appears that the overwhelming majority of atrocities are committed by zealots acting in the name of Islam- radical and unrepresentative as they are for this supposedly peaceful faith, although there are passages in its holy book that seem to insist on a violent jihad and ultimat...
