This made me think of https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/10/le-nozze-di-figaro-by-pierre-de.html Le Nozze di Figaro by Pierre de Beaumarchais, though I am not sure why, perhaps the same idea of a comedy that is not so satisfying, except in the case of Figaro, it is all made exuberant, dazzling by the music of Mozart

 

Mozart is the well-known prodigy – although given the awful results in PISA and other tests, we can see that the new generations are not bothered, and mostly have not heard of the name, never mind know about him – that is part of the classic by Malcolm Gladwell, who had studied his case and that of others, reaching a memorable conclusion

With ten thousand hours of practice, and/or study one can reach the top, and Mozart is one case in point https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/08/outliers-by-malcolm-gladwell.html he composed as a child, but what they perform today is his much later work, written in his twenties, proving somehow the ten thousand hours rule

 

What I liked in She Stoops To Conquer was the humor, though it is not exhilarating, we have these characters trying to find the mansion, and then a prankster, cousin of the would-be-bride, tells the visitors that they have this inn ahead, which is in fact the property of Mr. Hardcastle, who will be confused at first.

The wealthy man assumes that the new generation behaves differently – I could see that the other night, the spoiled brats from my gated community were screaming at two in the morning, they do that occasionally, because why not – and the visitors are just shy, and they show their prudence in a peculiar manner

to begin with, Mr. Hardcastle assumes this is the new style- like I said above, this never changes, we think we behaved in our early years, and these scoundrels today have reached incredible lows, which is true in terms of education, in most places, but this is Hedonic Adaptation – but then the host begins to get furious
