Huckleberry Finn https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/04/the-adventures-of-huckleberry-finn-by.html is one of The 100 Best Books of All Time, Ernest Hemingway said ‘All modern American literature comes from one book by Mark Twain called Huckleberry Finn. American writing comes from that. There was nothing before. There has been nothing as good since.’ Now, I do not appreciate Hemingway all that much…

 

I agree that this is one of the Best 1,000 Novels, even if the algorithm of the GOAT site placed it only 2445^th on that page, David Wilson is the nicest character here, the lawyer that says at an early stage that he wished he ‘owned half of a dog that was barking, so that he could kill his half’, rather obnoxious, but also amusing

He gets called Pudd’nhead aka nitwit for that, furthermore, he takes fingerprints and he is mocked, although it would prove so useful, towards the end, another figure I liked is Roxy, she is only one sixteenth black, but that makes all the difference at a time when in America, and elsewhere, white men owned slaves

Tom starts stealing, in order to pay his debts, while his uncle fights a duel for the honor of the family, eventually, this becomes a mystery novel, I am assuming somebody might read this far, indeed, sometimes, one looks at the start and skipping the content, just has a look at the end, so let us keep the secret here- except I must say this is a good book
