You can find this novel on The Guardian’s 1,000 Novels Everyone Must Read list – link – but it can raise some qualms, at least it does for this reader, who is wondering when coming across such works about the need to separate children’s books from the adults’ novels, only to realize that perhaps there is no such necessity, given first of all the fact that we need to remember adolescence, especially during a pandemic when everything seems to be potentially  tragic and Apocalypse, if not in the form of a deadly disease, then as in Hunger Games (albeit I have not seen the damn thing and only think that the title means it must be about famine somehow) could be around the corner and second, many do not graduate from high school anyway…

Furthermore, if we look at the antics of Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn and their gang of pirates, fortune hunters or robbers, depending on what activity they would settle on, the two children seem miles away from leaders of the Modern World, such as Trump, BolsaNero, Duterte, Maduro and many others like them, infantile, spreading conspiracies, egotistic and in many cases, acting not just like children (in the days long gone, the word retarded would be used), but challenged, spoiled, obnoxious brats at that, and then we have to consider that reading ‘books for children’ could be the way to understand what is happening and maybe Tom Sawyer and other works of this kind are too advanced, if we are to make sense of the Jerk –In- Command, who speaks about drinking disinfectant as a cure for the virus, draws lines on an official, meteorological map to convince people that his wrong announcement about a hurricane was in fact the truth…this is a pathological liar, suffering from Narcissistic Personality Disorder, Paranoia, Dementia and other ailments, to be put alongside Injun Joe in this book.

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn, alongside other novels of the era might just drop from the lists of the best books ever written in time – The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn are included on the shorter list, of Top 100 Books Ever Written – because of the language that is used, which includes the N word and what is worse, the attitude that persists in the story, which is racist, contemptible towards African Americans and other minorities, including the Native Americans …Injun Joe is the evil character, who will commit murder and then accuse his drunk companion, Potter, of an act that the latter has no means to recollect, since he was so intoxicated as to remember nothing of the crime

To say that ‘I have never seen a N***** that doesn’t lie’ is indeed more than offensive today, it is also illegal and inconceivable – though, since the Supreme Racist has been mentioned, it could serve as a reminder that the ‘Free World’ is led by a creature that has risen to power – much like similar nationalists and brother cave men elsewhere – mainly by shouting and screaming about ‘Mexican rapists’, building a ‘big, beautiful wall’, cutting and if possible eliminating immigration, talking of African states as ‘shit holes’ …this is the portrait of someone who is much worse than fictional characters in books written a long time ago by Mark Twain

The author mentions that though fabricated, the personages have been inspired by real boys that he has met in real life…Tom Sawyer is composed of a more than one inspirational figure…

If he has a charm, a dashing, brave, determined, often kind character, this cannot be said about the boys that are in charge of vast territories in the world that is threatened by this wave of the New Corona Virus and according to experts, by the one that would follow and be coupled with the regular flu, in such a deadly combination as to make the coming winter the Most Apocalyptic yet…evidently, we must be optimistic and see the ‘infamous light at the end of the tunnel’, but to be Panglossian and look at a false future is deadly…The Most Stupid Cult Leader has said that the cases will be down to zero, when his intelligence agencies had been trying to get his attention and state that there is a possible Armageddon coming.

But how can you get the attention of a goldfish…this idiot needs to have his name mentioned after every few lines, to keep him going and he does not read anything, pays no attention to the daily page of information that details the great perils that threaten…indeed, it is known now that he does not even listen to the reading that is supposed to overcome that obstacle- the Very Stable Genius does not read and when others read crucial documents to him, he is absent, just like a spoiled child who does only what he wants – as he has repeated hundreds of times, he has ‘the right to do whatever he wants’…just like in a tyranny.

If only Tom Sawyer were in charge of America and for that matter, much of the world, we would be so much better, for after all, this character is way more intelligent, Emotionally, socially and in any other way, than the fool that alas represents the attitudes, beliefs, stupidity, viciousness, degradation, immorality, inhumanity of those who are so devoted to and enthralled with him…Tom Sawyer is able to find assistants to help him whitewash a fence, when he is punished by his aunt for his serial misbehavior, while the Commander –in chief at the White House is chronically unable to find competent men and women for any position, he is surrounded by cronies, fools and sycophants that he first praises – we have the best people – only to discard at alarming rate, for political, egotistical reasons.

After being impeached for the treasonous behavior – and it was not just the Ukraine horrendous scandal…look at what happened in Helsinki, when he sided with…Putin, against the agencies of his own country – the Scoundrel has fired almost all those involved in trying to keep their country safe, from the bothers that testified -Vidman -  to the latest retributions – he fired Inspectors General, who are supposed to be there to watch over the business of government, to see that it is fair and honest – but how can it be so, when this man is using his position to promote his properties, where public money are being spent to enrich him – it would be unacceptable here, were an outcry will make people protest, but in America?

Well, this note was about Tom Sawyer, allegedly, but when concerned with the fact that the level of the book might be too low and it is addressed to teenagers or perhaps even smaller children in this day and age, I realized that the central figures in this book are superior to the Cult of Trump and this is a sophisticated opus for most of those who admire the Ultimate Crook a con artist that is vain and villainous…
