Pressure by David Haig is not overwhelming, but I have enjoyed most of it – you have thousands of notes on films from The New York Times’ Best 1,000 Movies Ever Made and other web sites on my blog https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/09/do-you-have-any-feedback.html and YouTube channel, where my macaws are radiant

Brandon
Fraser https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2026/06/a-note-on-gods-and-monsters.html is a very good actor, and his
handling of the role of General Dwight Ike Eisenhower is excellent, although
Jack Nicholson, or Geroge Constatin would have added panache, irony, and much
more to this emblematic persona
Pressure
describes events taking place during World War II, just before (and for some
scenes during and after) D Day, the celebrated, magnificent landing of the
Allied troops in France, a crucial operation for the fate of the war, which was
depicted in some other fantastic motion pictures, such as The Longest Day,
where the crème de la crème took part
There is
also Saving Private Ryan, with astounding cinematography – I just remembered
that one film maker said the only way to render the feeling of being at war to
an audience is to have a machine gun and then somebody to shoot at them, while
they are in the theater https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/07/saving-private-ryan.html we see in here the landing, as much
as we can have a sense of it
Pressure has
at the center a quote from General Dwight Eisenhower – ‘*Ike said simply “we
had better meteorologists” …the most important weather forecast of all-time:
D-Day, June 6, 1944*’ indeed they were preparing this massive operation, and
there was a debate between Captain James Stagg and Irving Krick
The former
insists that the weather will be terrible on June 5th, the initial day
for the landing, while the latter was sure it will all be fine, a serious
difference of opinion, but if Stagg would be correct and the operation were to
go ahead, the results would be calamitous, almost all the troops would be lost
in the waves or killed otherwise
Andrew Scott
https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/12/blue-moon-written-by-lorenz-hart-robert.html has played a paramount role in Blue
Moon, the best film of 2025 for me, and he was formidable in the latest
adaptation of The Talented Mr. Ripley, in Pressure, we have the same talent on
display in the portrayal of James Stagg
General
Dwight Eisenhower insisted that he had had good results from Irving Krick, when
he had asked for predictions in the campaign in North Africa, except that over
there, the weather is almost always the same, and in the area of interest for D
Day, there are different patterns and the captain insists on his forecast
Eventually, we
have valor on display, and I can’t help making the comparison between Dwight
Eisenhower (and all the other US leaders) and the orange clown https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/01/confidence-man-making-of-donald-trump.html that had just organized bloody
fights on the lawn of (what used to be) The White House, and then yesterday he
insulted Italy by saying their PM ‘begged’ for a photo!
