These are difficult times and we need Seneca https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/08/the-tao-of-seneca-by-seneca-one-of.html to help us through the war in Iran, blocking of the Hormuz strait, the expected crisis, albeit on another level, they said this before, and on many levels, we are doing so much better than in the past

 

In one of the books of jokes, there was this short description of various religions: Protestantism – shit won’t happen, if I work hard enough, Buddhism – is this really shit? Hinduism – this shit has happened before; Catholicism – shit happened because I deserve it; agnosticism – is this really shit? Hedonism – nothing like a good shit

Nonetheless, I cannot remember what the scheme was for Stoicism, but it should be something like ‘I can take care of this shit, live through it…’ words to that effect, what do you think? Now that is a real challenge and one of those things that do not happen, I mean get an answer to that question, or any other

indeed, this catastrophe of a man is one of the main reasons we have to think of Seneca and Stoicism – the idea that ‘we have to be happy with what we have’, and we have to realize that people in Iran, Gaza, Sudan, Myanmar, Cuba and the list is so terribly long, live in horrible conditions, most of them, not the dictators, or the privileged though

one constant headache is…the spouse, despite the fact that we expect adversity – to use a euphemism – the company has had zero profit, she keeps spending, and even worse, she just said about one hour ago that ‘she does not care, there are some good years of life left, so ‘pula mea’, aka my penis, she will go on…

  In The Fade aka Auf Dem Nichts, written by Hark Bohm and Fatih Akin In The Fade has won the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film, although in this cinephile's opinion, Una Mujer Fantastica- which has won the Oscar in the same category- Nelyubov or The Square would have been better choices. Having said that, Auf Dem Nichts is a very good, significant, remarkable feature, that attracts attention to violence against minorities, in this case the Kurdish community in Germany.
