Matilda https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2026/03/note-on-matilda.html is a fantastic character, and I have already posted a video on my YouTube channel on the subject, that was about the film adaptation, with an excellent cast, especially Danny de Vito as the horrendous, if hilarious father, a con artist, just like the Orange Caligula

 

We live in the age of the crook, in my view – though I have to be careful with this, for I have been kicked out of Goodreads and then I hade vicious comments on my allergy for the Orange Monster – the free world has as leader, and what a role model, a maniac, absurd, demented, stupid, vile individual who is a scoundrel

It is as if Matilda’s father, Mr. Wormwood, would have become the president of the United States – the fictional personage is in the used car business, and he has devised a system to falsify, diminish the mileage on the jalopies that he sells, and then he ads traps to the cars, so that they come back and he gets more money

Furthermore, if the character from the book is harming a few people and that is bad, then this idiot who reached the top, after such a history of crime, from the ones he did before 2016 on to the invasion of the Capitol Hill, top secrets in the bathroom, asking for 11,000 votes, stating that the elections should be taken over by republicans…

 

The list is humongous, it is not just about selling awful jalopies and making ‘dirty money’ in the real world we live in today – Matilda tells her father that this is dirty money, and he replies by telling her to stop eating the food, the parents seem surreal in some ways, you would not believe that such figures exist

And yet, here he is, launching a war in Iran, lying about it, we wanted this, then that, it will take a short time, then maybe a long time, and this is the candidate who said he ‘will end wars’, he is on record stating that ‘Obama will start a war with Iran, because he cannot negotiate’, and here we are, the idiot doing what he criticized

 

William Goldman https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/01/adventures-in-screen-trade-by-william.html has written the outstanding Adventures in The Screen Trade, in which he also speaks about impossible situations, that took place in reality, and yet the public would not believe it when they see it on the big screen, which is what is happening now- there was this film called Idiocracy, about a future when idiots are in power and everywhere else, alas, this has already happened, in is not Science Fiction anymore, look at The White House

  In The Fade aka Auf Dem Nichts, written by Hark Bohm and Fatih Akin In The Fade has won the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film, although in this cinephile's opinion, Una Mujer Fantastica- which has won the Oscar in the same category- Nelyubov or The Square would have been better choices. Having said that, Auf Dem Nichts is a very good, significant, remarkable feature, that attracts attention to violence against minorities, in this case the Kurdish community in Germany. The problem is that, unacceptable, horrifying and vile as these acts are, it appears that the overwhelming majority of atrocities are committed by zealots acting in the name of Islam- radical and unrepresentative as they are for this supposedly peaceful faith, although there are passages in its holy book that seem to insist on a violent jihad and ultimat...
