Sherlock Jr. directed by and starring Buster Keaton is one of The New York Times’ Best 1,000 Movies Ever Made – you find more than five thousand notes on films from The NYT 1,000 and other pages, plus about the same number of reviews on magnum opera from The Greatest Books of All time and other lists on my blog and YouTube channel https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/09/do-you-have-any-feedback.html

Buster Keaton was one of the greatest film makers of all time, and his presence on The New York Times’ Best 1,000 Movies Ever Made is both justified in my view and a proof of the value of his work, he made his features, that is he directed and had the leading role, about one hundred years ago, the passing of time could have sent this into oblivion

-          But it did not

Sherlock Jr is played by Buster Keaton, in what is a silent movie, the hero works in a cinema, but he is an aspiring detective, he also dreams while films are projected on the screen, and he is the one to keep an eye on the machinery: we have this idea of a story within the story, remind me of the Red Rose of Cairo by Woody Allen

A link sending you to my review of The Red Rose of Cairo would have been inserted here, maybe it will be, if I do not forget before this is posted – it if ever will be – but I cannot do this, or check other things online, because I have no internet access, have not had it for too long now, that is maybe thirty minutes or so

I just hope it is not something more serious – like maybe an invasion, an attack by the Delta Force, sent by the Orange Estupido, who keeps insulting, threatening allies, randomly, with no logic, sense, ethics, decency at all – more probable though might be some issue with the desk computer, I received a message from Microsoft…

Something with coverage for my Windows 10, or whatever I have has finished and I hope that does not mean the software is not able to make connection with the internet source

Maybe I should call Sherlock Jr.

In the film, he is visiting this woman he apparently loves, and there is a thief there, who has stolen a watch, while Sherlock is studying the book ‘How to be a Detective’, the lousy fellow looks from behind and sees the steps to be taken, which at number list ‘search everybody’, so he decides to put the watch in the pocket of…Sherlock Jr.

They find the missing item with the poor, innocent man, furthermore, he had given a gift worth one dollar, for this is all he had, besides, at that time $ 1 was the equivalent of $ 100 today, and he had written 4 on the box, to give the impression he had spent more, only this is used against him, however, there is more to the plot, we have some extraordinary chases, with the car, a motor bike that is left without anyone controlling it, so it randomly runs through traffic, this is a comedy, so the situations are amusing most often, improbable, but then, how can we doubt anything on the screen, when you see what is going on at The White House…did they take Greenland, the internet is not back on, so I do not know…

Now for my standard closing of the note with a question, and invitation – I am on Goodreads as Realini Ionescu, at least for the moment, if I keep on expressing my views on Orange Woland aka TACO, it may be a short-lived presence

Also, maybe you have a good idea on how we could make more than a million dollars with this https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/09/do-you-have-any-feedback.html – as it is, this is a unique technique, which we could promote, sell, open the Oscars show with or something and then make lots of money together, if you have the how, I have the product, I just do not know how to get the benefits from it, other than the exercise per se

There is also the small matter of working for AT&T – this huge company asked me to be its Representative for Romania and Bulgaria, on the Calling Card side, which meant sailing into the Black Sea wo meet the US Navy ships, travelling to Sofia, a lot of activity, using my mother’s two bedrooms flat as office and warehouse, all for the grand total of $250, raised after a lot of persuasion to the staggering $400…with retirement ahead, there are no benefits, nothing…it is a longer story, but if you can help get the mastodont to pay some dues, or have an idea how it can happen, let me know

As for my role in the Revolution that killed Ceausescu, a smaller Mao, there it is http://realini.blogspot.com/2022/03/realini-in-newsweek-participant-in.html

Some favorite quotes from To The Hermitage and other works

‘Fiction is infinitely preferable to real life...As long as you avoid the books of Kafka or Beckett, the everlasting plot of fiction has fewer futile experiences than the careless plot of reality...Fiction's people are fuller, deeper, cleverer, more moving than those in real life…Its actions are more intricate, illuminating, noble, profound…There are many more dramas, climaxes, romantic fulfillment, twists, turns, gratified resolutions…Unlike reality, all of this you can experience without leaving the house or even getting out of bed…What's more, books are a form of intelligent human greatness, as stories are a higher order of sense…As random life is to destiny, so stories are to great authors, who provided us with some of the highest pleasures and the most wonderful mystifications we can find…Few stories are greater than Anna Karenina, that wise epic by an often foolish author…’
