The Magnificent Seven written by William Roberts, Walter Bernstein, Shinobu Hashimoto, Akira Kurosawa, Walter Newman and Hideo Oguni; directed by John Sturges and with a glorious cast is probably included on The New York Times’ Best 1,000 Movies Ever Made list – maybe I should have checked this, but I feel it must be there – after showing this serious tendency to procrastinate, I have the gumption to invite you to check my more than five thousand notes on films from the aforementioned and other web pages, which are accompanied by reviews for magnum opera from The Greatest Books of All time and other sites on my blog and YouTube channel https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/09/do-you-have-any-feedback.html

8 out of 10
This is a
phenomenal motion picture, but I refer here to the 1960 adaptation of The Seven
Samurai https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/10/seven-samurai-written-and-directed-by.html written and directed by one of the
gods of cinema, Akira Kurosawa, this is not about the more recent feature, with
Denzel Washington
In fact, I
have given the latter only 73 out of 100, when I have ‘reviewed it’ https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/12/note-on-magnificent-seven.html - nevertheless, I will limit myself
to saying that it is a pleasure to watch thespians of the caliber of Yul
Brynner, Steve McQueen, Eli Wallach, Robert Vaughn, James Coburn and one that I
do not really respect, Charles Bronson, mea culpa, I may have to say
From here
on, I will abandon the subject and move on to…what happened today at the club,
so you may feel you have to leave this page – I am smiling, for I am talking to
Nobody, just like Ulysses in the Odyssey https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/02/the-odyssey-by-homer.html when he addressed the Cyclopes…
We will see
this soon, in the motion picture that will probably dominate 2026, directed by
Christopher Nolan, who has used millions of feet of film – this is a record I
read – and has invented new IMAX cameras to use for the whole movie, it will be
a fiesta, jubilation, expect it is not good to have too high expectations
We have this
man at the club Downtown, Ammoniac aka Chili Palmer, only the latter is such a
funny, likeable character, while the local version has the obsession with
‘telling you how it is’, but without the glamour, charm of the John Travolta personage
on the big screen https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/07/get-shorty-by-elmore-leonard-aka.html
This local
Chili has a series of lectures, wherein he explains how Frankenstein is a marvelous
film, to which I say I do not like it, then he tells you about the humiliation
of Zelensky, that it was the Ukrainian war hero who is obnoxious ‘how could he
tell Vance “Have you been to Ukraine to see it?”, that was blasphemy’
I left and
cannot stand this individual anymore, it has to do with The Six Pillars of
Self-Esteem https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/07/six-pillars-of-self-esteem-by-nathaniel.html a psychology classic by Nathaniel
Branden you have values, principles, in order to have self-esteem, but if you
allow them to be trampled upon, lowered to the dust, then what is left to
respect, if you allow people to say Trump aka Evil is actually good?
Then there
is this other individual (I know, if there are more who say I am wrong, then I
must be, well, maybe I am) who was mocking in the sauna, and when I tried to
speak, he jumped in, with details about a famous porn star, Emma something, the
problem there was that he is an outsider, like in Goodfellas https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/08/goodfellas-based-on-book-by-nicholas.html he is not a ‘made guy’, he does not
have the right to take shots at me, Ammoniac at least is part of the Caucasian
Chalk Circle
Now for my
standard closing of the note with a question, and invitation – I am on
Goodreads as Realini Ionescu, at least for the moment, if I keep on expressing
my views on Orange Woland aka TACO, it may be a short-lived presence
Also, maybe
you have a good idea on how we could make more than a million dollars with this
https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/09/do-you-have-any-feedback.html – as it is, this is a unique
technique, which we could promote, sell, open the Oscars show with or something
and then make lots of money together, if you have the how, I have the product,
I just do not know how to get the benefits from it, other than the exercise per
se
There is also the small matter of working for
AT&T – this huge company asked me to be its Representative for Romania and
Bulgaria, on the Calling Card side, which meant sailing into the Black Sea wo
meet the US Navy ships, travelling to Sofia, a lot of activity, using my
mother’s two bedrooms flat as office and warehouse, all for the grand total of
$250, raised after a lot of persuasion to the staggering $400…with retirement
ahead, there are no benefits, nothing…it is a longer story, but if you can help
get the mastodont to pay some dues, or have an idea how it can happen, let me
know
As for my
role in the Revolution that killed Ceausescu, a smaller Mao, there it is http://realini.blogspot.com/2022/03/realini-in-newsweek-participant-in.html
Some
favorite quotes from To The Hermitage and other works
‘Fiction is
infinitely preferable to real life...As long as you avoid the books of Kafka or
Beckett, the everlasting plot of fiction has fewer futile experiences than the
careless plot of reality...Fiction's people are fuller, deeper, cleverer, more
moving than those in real life…Its actions are more intricate, illuminating,
noble, profound…There are many more dramas, climaxes, romantic fulfillment,
twists, turns, gratified resolutions…Unlike reality, all of this you can
experience without leaving the house or even getting out of bed…What's more,
books are a form of intelligent human greatness, as stories are a higher order
of sense…As random life is to destiny, so stories are to great authors, who
provided us with some of the highest pleasures and the most wonderful
mystifications we can find…Few stories are greater than Anna Karenina, that
wise epic by an often foolish author…’
