Nouvelle Vague by Jean Luc Godard, Richard Linklater – I see this as one of the best films of 2025, indeed, since it was a 2025 Nominee for The Palme d'Or for Richard Linklater, this is certification that you have here one of the Top 10, furthermore it is also a 2026 Nominee for The Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy…by the way, you find more than five thousand notes on films from The New York Times Best 1,000 Movies Ever Made and other pages, plus about the same amount of reviews on magnum opera from The Greatest Books of All Time and other sites on my blog and YouTube channel https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/09/do-you-have-any-feedback.html maybe you wish to subscribe

Nouvelle Vague
is mesmerizing and this comes as no surprise, I have also enjoyed so much Blue
Moonhttps://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/12/blue-moon-written-by-lorenz-hart-robert.html
directed by the same fabulous Richard Linklater, I am thinking now that they
are among the top five best films of 2025
Blue Moon
has been dismissed by my interlocutor at the club downtown, we talk about
movies, and this one presumes the viewer knows history, art of America, the culture
and he may be right, but I do not see that as a minus, on the contrary, I feel
we are educated, though Oklahoma! might not be the most vital subject
Richard Linklater
gave the cinephiles Before Sunrise https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/12/note-on-before-sunrise-written-and.html
another work of art, just as the other in the trilogy, Before Sunset – I have been
less enthused by Before Midnight, I think Julie Delpy is pushing outside what I
see as the zone of the very talented
Ethan Hawke
on the other hand has been fantastic in the aforementioned, his performance in the
Blue Moon – and the others as a matter of fact – has been wonderful, I have not
seen One Battle After Another yet, and I understand that Leonardo DiCaprio
shines, nevertheless, I have said this before, they should give the award to a
couple, or more thespians
What makes
Nouvelle Vague even more remarkable is that it is about the making of another
film, a landmark, Breathless, which somehow, I failed to appreciate – somehow stands
for I am foolish enough to miss the significance, majesty of some, or many masterpieces
– and it teaches the novice about this key moment in the History of Cinema
Jean Luc
Godard was a newcomer, but he was very determined, gifted, he pushed with his
vision, which was quite obscure, as in they did not have a script, he was of
the opinion that spontaneous reactions would be the solution, not a prefabricated,
perhaps false attitude, concocted with a lot of rehearsal beforehand
That attracted
criticism and hostility, Jean Seberg wanted to quit, at least according to this
take of the events, albeit we learn at the end that her epitaph had the fact
that she starred in Breathless – Zoey Deutch is excellent, I have seen her
recently giving another remarkable performance in The Threesome, a very
different role
Godard would
often work for two hours and give the crew the rest of the day off, even if
they were on a tight schedule, they had to finish work in twenty days, Jean
Seberg would ‘cost’ ten thousand dollars, and that still seems so puny, even if
we say that it must be a few hundred thousand in the money of our time…
When stars take
more than twenty million, it is such a contrast, The Rock was the highest paid
(though I sort of not see him as an actor, perhaps with the Smashing Machine I should
reconsider) a few years back, and he took in some 70 million, and the arrangements
would give him and others a percentage of the ticket sales – Scarlett Johansson
sued Disney over this issue, when they did not release one of her films in
theaters
This is the link to the note on Before Sunset https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/12/note-on-before-sunset-directed-by.html
Now for my
standard closing of the note with a question, and invitation – I am on
Goodreads as Realini Ionescu, at least for the moment, if I keep on expressing
my views on Orange Woland aka TACO, it may be a short-lived presence
Also, maybe
you have a good idea on how we could make more than a million dollars with this
https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/09/do-you-have-any-feedback.html
– as it is, this is a unique technique, which we could promote, sell, open the
Oscars show with or something and then make lots of money together, if you have
the how, I have the product, I just do not know how to get the benefits from
it, other than the exercise per se
There is also the small matter of working for
AT&T – this huge company asked me to be its Representative for Romania and
Bulgaria, on the Calling Card side, which meant sailing into the Black Sea wo
meet the US Navy ships, travelling to Sofia, a lot of activity, using my
mother’s two bedrooms flat as office and warehouse, all for the grand total of
$250, raised after a lot of persuasion to the staggering $400…with retirement
ahead, there are no benefits, nothing…it is a longer story, but if you can help
get the mastodont to pay some dues, or have an idea how it can happen, let me
know
As for my
role in the Revolution that killed Ceausescu, a smaller Mao, there it is http://realini.blogspot.com/2022/03/realini-in-newsweek-participant-in.html
Some
favorite quotes from To The Hermitage and other works
‘Fiction is
infinitely preferable to real life...As long as you avoid the books of Kafka or
Beckett, the everlasting plot of fiction has fewer futile experiences than the
careless plot of reality...Fiction's people are fuller, deeper, cleverer, more
moving than those in real life…Its actions are more intricate, illuminating,
noble, profound…There are many more dramas, climaxes, romantic fulfillment,
twists, turns, gratified resolutions…Unlike reality, all of this you can
experience without leaving the house or even getting out of bed…What's more,
books are a form of intelligent human greatness, as stories are a higher order
of sense…As random life is to destiny, so stories are to great authors, who
provided us with some of the highest pleasures and the most wonderful
mystifications we can find…Few stories are greater than Anna Karenina, that
wise epic by an often foolish author…’
