Hereafter by Peter Morgan is not the best motion picture you can see, notwithstanding its Academy Award nomination for Best Achievement in Visual Effects, however, it was on television last night and then look at the cast: Matt Damon, Cecile de France – the latter is one of my absolute favorites – and the director, none other than Clint Eastwood…now for my plug: you find more than five thousand notes on better films, from The New York Times’ Best 1,000 Movies Ever Made and other web pages, together with reviews on magnum opera from The Greatest Books of All Time and other sites on my blog and YouTube channel https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/09/do-you-have-any-feedback.html maybe you will enjoy it

7 out of 10
Let me start
with the divine Cecile de France https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/12/lauberge-espagnole-written-and-directed.html one of the most glorious thespians,
at least according to yours truly- her presence in Hereafter is reason enough
to watch the movie and enjoy it, again, if you ask me, which you didn’t
Matt Damon
needs no kudos from the under signed, and he gives a solid performance, if not
a magnetic one, I liked his restraint, then take the director: Clint Eastwood,
one of the greatest actors (despite the fact that he is a republican, I can
only hope he is not MAGA which for me means being Gaga, and I mean lost, not
Lady Gaga)
If
Unforgiven is one of the most spectacular, mesmerizing works of art you (must)
have seen https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2024/09/unforgiven-by-david-webb-peoples-my.html Hereafter will come as a
disappointment, but then not every feature can reach the zenith, can it? So,
this is satisfying after all
Cecile de
France plays Marie Lelay, a journalist, who is on holiday in East Asia when the
infamous tsunami, that has killed tens of thousands, hist the shore, she is
caught in the market, pushed around and under the massive waves, until she
comes to the surface to be declared dead…for a while, until she is resurrected
This is the
theme, it has also happened to George Lonegan aka Matt Damon, when he was a
child, he had a serious fever, it got almost terminal – indeed, it was for some
time – they operated on him for many hours, and somehow – a miracle might be
the word – he returns from the other side and he has this gift
Matt Damon https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/08/good-will-hunting-by-matt-damon-and-ben.html is a very smart person (the Orange
idiot in the White House comes to mind, with his torrent of insults, calling
those who question his abuses, imperial aspirations and all names, which
actually apply to him)
His George
Lonegan is tormented by the images he sees, he has the ability to ‘connect’,
when he touches a human being, he gets the information – for instance, when he
appears to be on the cusp of having an affair with this woman, Melanie aka the
formidable Bryce Dallas Howard, he sees things from her past, knows that her
father is dead
Alas, he
sees more, the fact the departed parent had abused his daughter, and this
reveled truth puts an end to their possible intimacy, he had warned her that
they must not get into this, it is better to have secrets from each other and
not know everything, she is curious and has the story, but he had been right
Finally, the
screenwriter, Peter Morgan, has had important success with The Queen, The
Crown, Rush and Frost/Nixon https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/08/frostnixon-by-peter-morgan.html a motion picture which looks at the
interviews with the ex-president, the revelations, characters, humor, an
excellent film
Now for my
standard closing of the note with a question, and invitation – I am on
Goodreads as Realini Ionescu, at least for the moment, if I keep on expressing
my views on Orange Woland aka TACO, it may be a short-lived presence
Also, maybe
you have a good idea on how we could make more than a million dollars with this
https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/09/do-you-have-any-feedback.html
– as it is, this is a unique technique, which we could promote, sell, open the
Oscars show with or something and then make lots of money together, if you have
the how, I have the product, I just do not know how to get the benefits from
it, other than the exercise per se
There is also the small matter of working for
AT&T – this huge company asked me to be its Representative for Romania and
Bulgaria, on the Calling Card side, which meant sailing into the Black Sea wo
meet the US Navy ships, travelling to Sofia, a lot of activity, using my
mother’s two bedrooms flat as office and warehouse, all for the grand total of
$250, raised after a lot of persuasion to the staggering $400…with retirement
ahead, there are no benefits, nothing…it is a longer story, but if you can help
get the mastodont to pay some dues, or have an idea how it can happen, let me
know
As for my
role in the Revolution that killed Ceausescu, a smaller Mao, there it is http://realini.blogspot.com/2022/03/realini-in-newsweek-participant-in.html
Some
favorite quotes from To The Hermitage and other works
‘Fiction is
infinitely preferable to real life...As long as you avoid the books of Kafka or
Beckett, the everlasting plot of fiction has fewer futile experiences than the
careless plot of reality...Fiction's people are fuller, deeper, cleverer, more
moving than those in real life…Its actions are more intricate, illuminating,
noble, profound…There are many more dramas, climaxes, romantic fulfillment,
twists, turns, gratified resolutions…Unlike reality, all of this you can
experience without leaving the house or even getting out of bed…What's more,
books are a form of intelligent human greatness, as stories are a higher order
of sense…As random life is to destiny, so stories are to great authors, who
provided us with some of the highest pleasures and the most wonderful
mystifications we can find…Few stories are greater than Anna Karenina, that
wise epic by an often foolish author…’
