Seneca was not just one of the luminaries of his age http://realini.blogspot.com/2022/02/the-tao-of-seneca-by-seneca-one-of.html  his example could animate youngsters today, his philosophy is not just interesting in our times, it is indeed vital that we take at least some of the good rules, precepts from it, since with the excesses of our predecessors and ourselves we have reached the point where Climate Change brings about disasters, ocean levels are rising, temperatures are rising constantly (albeit there are times when cold weather is extreme, we have just a spring that was much like the previous winter)

Buddha said that ‘being angry is like keeping hot coals in your hand, in order to throw on your adversary…your hands will be burned in the meantime’ – actually, it is surely a different sentence, but it is to this effect, that when we are angry, we are like mad http://realini.blogspot.com/2021/05/reading-monks-guide-to-happiness-by.html  – On anger begins by saying that the angry man is a little, or temporarily crazy, look at the way his face is distorted, the look he has (I would say it is mostly men, who get furious, women have generally a higher Emotional Intelligence EQ

We could wonder about The Six Pillars of Self Esteem http://realini.blogspot.com/2013/06/six-pillars-of-self-esteem-by-nathaniel.html the psychology classic written by the ultimate expert on the subject, Nathaniel Branden, who argues that we have values that we must uphold, so that we keep our self-esteem, and there are situations when we must act upon them, or else we lose the trust, appreciation we have of ourselves.

There are many situations when it is next to impossible to keep calm – reading On Anger, or the brilliant Calm No Matter What by Paul Wilson http://realini.blogspot.com/2016/08/calm-no-matter-what-by-paul-wilson-oh.html - such as the daily cycling to and from Downtown, when mad, Angry drivers speed by, within an inch from my bike and my life, and make me curse like Armageddon has just happened, and there is no way I could say stoics suggest thanking such pithecanthropus for testing our resilience

Then you reach the sauna at the Downtown club and find inside the Friends of Vlady Putin, who will tell you that it is the other side, the Americans, NATO, you name it, it is not the despot in the Kremlin, the others are responsible for the invasion of Ukraine– for that matter, you could look at the news and see that the world is not just full of such eejits, but eh leaders of huge realms are, take Modi, Xi, Lula for starters and you have a third or so of the planet covered, led by ghouls that embrace the short czar

We should think of ‘Happiness Activity No 7: Learning to Forgive –keeping a journal or writing a letter in which you work on letting go of anger and resentment toward one or more individuals who’ve hurt or wronged you’  as explained in detail in the life changing The How of Happiness by Sonja Lyubomirsky http://realini.blogspot.com/2014/07/the-how-of-happiness-by-sonja.html forgiveness is one of the Character Strengths

The co-founder of Positive Psychology, Martin Seligman, has a good number of wondrous writings http://realini.blogspot.com/2013/07/learned-optimism-by-martin-seligman.html in which he details what the character strengths are (forgiveness and pity belong to the Temperance chapter) and some of the motives that make one angry, ABCD will refer to the case when one is trying some new diet, a new ritual that fails, and then says ‘this is no good, it will fail’, or the assumption that someone is insulting us

One example comes to mind, two fellows seemed to be laughing at me, when I walked by the pool at the aforementioned club, and in the meantime, we are quite friendly with each other, and albeit they could have had something to laugh at (there is plenty to criticize, clearly) we have to apply the same ABCD, A is for the Adversity (which could be contested, we often, or in the majority of cases make wrong assumptions)

B is from behavior, which could be as absurd, and also hilarious, as the one we see in what is maybe the best comedy ever http://realini.blogspot.com/2017/03/monty-pythons-life-of-brian-bymonty.html Monty Python’s Life of Brian, where in this scene, John Cleese is in charge of a stoning, because one man blasphemed and he has a group of women in attendance, in spite of the regulation that forbade them to be there, and when he talks of the blasphemous incident, he gets…stoned himself…

There is the anger caused by helplessness, most often I find myself unable to provide the spouse and daughter with what they would require to enjoy some shopping (or a lot of it) trips, even some of the basics, for a middle class (perhaps upper) woman, and the thought of the wisdom of the Stoics, Seneca does not always help http://realini.blogspot.com/2016/08/a-guide-to-good-life-by-william-irvine.html

yes, we should desire what we already have, and cravings have been identified in many, or most faiths, philosophies as the source of pain and suffering http://realini.blogspot.com/2017/03/note-5-on-religion-buddhism.html but at times it is frustrating to be faced with privations, and after the financial crisis of 2008, which could be followed by another, maybe soon, there is always the anxiety, and hence the fury when pressure is applied and it looks as if resources will not be sufficient…Seneca is however an excellent role model, even if he has been criticized, because of his opulent fortune, only we could say that the man knew about riches, he did not despise them without knowing about them…now for  a question, and invitation – maybe you have a good idea on how we could make more than a million dollars with this http://realini.blogspot.com/2022/02/unique-in-world.html?q=unique+in+the+world  – as it is, this is a unique technique, which we could promote, sell, open the Oscars show with or something and then make lots of money together, if you have the how, I have the product, I just do not know how to get the befits from it, other than the exercise per se

As for my role in the Revolution that killed Ceausescu, a smaller Mao, there it is http://realini.blogspot.com/2022/03/realini-in-newsweek-participant-in.html
