Midnight's Children by Salman Rushdie
Midnight's Children is included in both The Guardian Top 100 books of All Time and The Modern Library Top 100 books..I try to read as many books as I can from these two lists and if it will be possible, from The TIME Top 100 list and a few others..
Salman Rushdie seemed to me a very pleasant, nice writer when I saw his interview...I empathized with his ordeal, when fundamentalists placed him on a Death List. They wanted him killed for his "heresy"in The Satanic Verses...These notes are a chronicle of my meeting with these great books (from the lists mentioned above): I acknowlege their value, even if I do not find myself able to connect, enjoy, immerse in all of them..
Midnight's Children has everything: love, war, politics, humor...and yet (or because?) of the sheer magnitude of the book, the subjects -I found my mind wondering, unable to concentrate on the book...
