Reading the Greek mythology is not just entertaining (yes, there will be horror stories, think Medea and her killing of half-brother, and then her own children, or Hercules) but essential in pursuing other reads, unless we talk of Dan Brown https://realini.blogspot.com/2019/03/the-da-vinci-code-based-on-dan-brown-7.html

 

We have been blessed to have a god, or at least demi-god as teacher in high school, Magister Ludi Anton Chevorchian, and he insisted that unless we are familiar with the myths of Ancient Greece, we will not be able to understand masterpieces, that keep referring to Ulysses, Circe, Penelope, Achilles, and more recently Zeus in The Human Stain https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2024/01/the-human-stain-by-philip-roth-author.html

In this novel, the main character is a ‘mature’ (this appears to be newspeak for getting older) man who has a much younger lover, and he is enthused when Viagra is launched, a pill which he thinks should be called…Zeus, presumably because of the power it gives, or else, a user could feel like the Supreme Ruler of Olympus

 

From here on, the connection with The Greek Legends will probably be severed, so this should be a spoiler alert, warning or similar, in other words, the above was what I had to say, these stories are fabulous, I find them intriguing, again, as I immerse into some of them and find that there are aspects I ignored, or forgotten

But there is also a feeling that humanity has progressed immensely, in economical, technological and other ways, but religion is still irrational in many places -no, that was wrong, it is the fanatics, fundamentalists that misinterpret scripture, holy texts that are to blame, creationists, Hamas and the rest

 

I also see replicas of the old monsters, Medusa, Gorgons, Hydra, not just absconded within the hoi polloi – I see many of that though at the sauna, fans of Putin, Orange Jesus and similar gargoyles – but they lead the world alas, from America (not Biden, Insha’ Allah, he could be reelected, and then we are saved) to Russia

The Butcher in The Kremlin has recently killed the leader of the opposition, role model Alexey Navalny, a martyr https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2024/02/oscar-winner-navalny.html as The economist explains, who stood for democracy, human rights, and in Stalinist fashion, he was sent to the Arctic Circle and murdered

 

They had tried to assassinate him before, and you would be thrilled if you watch the Oscar Winner for Documentary Navalny, where you see how they expose the killers, Bellingcat – I think that is the name – and the buying on the dark net of information that led to the phone numbers, travel data and other compelling evidence

 

I have compared Navalny with Bellerophon in a previous note, he is the modern (was, alas) version of the hero, a real one, not the fakes we see in Marvel movies, trying to fight the Hydra, or some other vile, abominable monster, who operates with nuclear weapons, and not just in threats, he even used at least one

If anyone is still here, and he is a supporter of the would-be czar, then he will jump and say this is evidence, for the innocent man has never done Bellingcat that…well, he did, even if there was a miniature one involved, sent all the way from Russia to London, leaving a radioactive path in airports, and wherever the assassins went

 

This resurrected Ivan The Terrible had wanted Alexander Litvinenko dead (and other, Boris Nemtsov was shot dead within a few steps from The Kremlin) and ergo, a couple of ghouls were flown to the country where the target had received asylum, they had no idea what they carried, they just thought it is poison, not how potent it was.

Alexander Litvinenko had spoken about corruption, the way the oligarchs, the authorities are in cahoots, in fact, part of the same racketeering organization, that has the richest man on earth at the top, for this short villain is not just emperor over that vast land, but he has property that will put all tycoons to shame…

A cello player, with income of some thousands, turns out to have billions, which cannot be in any way justified, except he is a friend and clearly a front man for the Butcher, who keeps pouring out propaganda and enormities – some of the latest have Poland responsible for World War II, for it was occupied by the Nazis

 

Then, when the Russians attacked Kiev, they have a had a huge traffic jam of ten miles or so, no provisions, they had packed parade uniforms, since they had been sure that they will just walk in triumph, and there will be a big fiesta the next day…well, that catastrophic operation was in fact a ‘gesture of good will’

So, we hear the big liar saying, and he will be taken on his word by the other lunatic, Orange Jesus, who met with him in Oslo (or was it Helsinki) and then said that he believes Putin, over his own intelligence agencies…

 There is also the small matter of working for AT&T – this huge company asked me to be its Representative for Romania and Bulgaria, on the Calling Card side, which meant sailing into the Black Sea wo meet the US Navy ships, travelling to Sofia, a lot of activity, using my mother’s two bedrooms flat as office and warehouse, all for the grand total of $250, raised after a lot of persuasion to the staggering $400…with retirement ahead, there are no benefits, nothing…it is a longer story, but if you can help get the mastodont to pay some dues, or have an idea how it can happen, let me know
