Anton Chekhov https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2026/05/the-short-stories-of-anton-chekhov-are.html is one of my favorite authors: I was talking just a few hours ago, at the jacuzzi downtown, about oeuvres, to a femme charmante from Moldova, who was listening to an audiobook, and my advice was to focus on The GOAT, Greatest of All Time

 

Coming from the Republic of Moldova, she had read Russian classics in their own language, I failed to get into politics, but just touching on the subject, it looks as if she is no Putin fan, this is the litmus test for the under signed, if one is part of the anti-Ukraine club, or with MAGA, there is nothing we can talk about…

We had Jim Caviezel https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/08/the-thin-red-line-based-on-novel-by.html at the sauna, in the same place downtown, and he went on, and on about how Putin is a nice guy, the conspiracy theories we know of, in short, I walked out when he started on this, and he was still talking nonsense, half an hour later

 

In contrast, when he entered the sauna, with shoes on, track suit, 50 Cent never said a single word, I was getting ready to tell him this is no way to stay in the sauna, and at the highest level, when a friend told me who he is, and I stopped, I had not known we had been so honored, had not listened to his music, so there it is

For example, if a gun is included in a story, there must be a reason for it, such as being fired at some later point.”

 

He was the target of, I was going to say ridicule, but that would not be appropriate, it is more gentle than that: “The Checkoff formula: you take a lot of characters, all miserable because of something they won't do, and let them talk without influencing each other for three acts, and at the last moment you introduce some arbitrary calamity, or some proposed change like a return to Petrograd or a holiday in the Cry-mere, which you know won't make any difference to any of them, and then you go on for ten minutes or so after the thing should have stopped even by your own standards, to show how delicate and unemphatic your art is”

  In The Fade aka Auf Dem Nichts, written by Hark Bohm and Fatih Akin In The Fade has won the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film, although in this cinephile's opinion, Una Mujer Fantastica- which has won the Oscar in the same category- Nelyubov or The Square would have been better choices. Having said that, Auf Dem Nichts is a very good, significant, remarkable feature, that attracts attention to violence against minorities, in this case the Kurdish community in Germany. It is therefore not one sided, we do not have only Muslim lunatics killing innocent "infidels", but also some extreme Europeans murdering the other side. The problem is that, unacceptable, horrifying and vile as these acts are, it appears that the overwhelming majority of atrocities are committed by zealots acting in the name of Islam- radical and unrepresentative as they are for this supposedly peaceful faith, although there are passages in its holy book that seem to insist on a violent jihad and ultimat...
