Ilya Ilf and Yevgeny Petrov https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/09/the-twelve-chairs-by-ilf-and-petrov.html have delighted, dazzled this reader, and The Creation of New Robinson, though not on the level of their two masterpieces, shows the talent that the two Russian authors have, besides, this is also a criticism of propaganda

Readers want adventure, so the editor wants the aspiring novelist to write about a new Robinson Crusoe, and the result is disappointing, because it does not respect the rules of the new regime, though they do not say this explicitly, it is just that the would-be father-in-law brings the family together to criticize the New Robinson…

It is possible to look at Robinson Crusoe from a different perspective, the proof is the magic, glorious Vendredi, La Vie Sauvage https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/07/vendredi-ou-la-vie-sauvage-by-michel.html by Michel Tournier, in which Robinson becomes a supporting character, and Vendredi takes center stage

 

Nevertheless, in this satire, they change Robinson in a ridiculous manner, they have a sports team, eventually masses of people landing on the island, thus creating the opposite, Robinson is the best-known solitary figure, and then here you mock it…let me just mention The Case of Comrade Tulayev at the end https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/02/the-case-of-comrade-tulayev-by-victor.html

  In The Fade aka Auf Dem Nichts, written by Hark Bohm and Fatih Akin In The Fade has won the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film, although in this cinephile's opinion, Una Mujer Fantastica- which has won the Oscar in the same category- Nelyubov or The Square would have been better choices. Having said that, Auf Dem Nichts is a very good, significant, remarkable feature, that attracts attention to violence against minorities, in this case the Kurdish community in Germany. It is therefore not one sided, we do not have only Muslim lunatics killing innocent "infidels", but also some extreme Europeans murdering the other side. The problem is that, unacceptable, horrifying and vile as these acts are, it appears that the overwhelming majority of atrocities are committed by zealots acting in the name of Islam- radical and unrepresentative as they are for this supposedly peaceful faith, although there are passages in its holy book that seem to insist on a violent jihad and ultimat...
