George Constantin https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/07/peer-gynt-by-henrik-ibsen-calling.html makes all the difference here, and in any play, motion picture we could see him, he is The Inheritor, otherwise a quite amusing, but not outstanding work, with some messages, in the age of the charlatans, The Orange Caligula

 

Ludovico Ribera is also called Prospero at some point, and he is the protagonist, who comes to claim his ‘Inheritance’, in a rather peculiar way: Amedeo Salceano is this lawyer, whose father has died, and Prospero was Ribera’s parent, the latter was given a roof over his head and food, and his child wants the same treatment…

Nay, he wants more, at some stage he talks about the fact that his late father could have invented immortality, may have made a fortune, were it not for this family, which ‘prevented’ don Prospero Ribera from getting out there, to make a living, in other words, you offered charity, well, this was very bad, now you have to pay for it

 

 The work of Eduardo De Filippo https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/07/marriage-italian-style-based-on.html is familiar indirectly, if you will, because of the magnificent Marriage Italian Style, with Marcello Mastroianni and Sophia Loren, one of the best comedies ever, The Inheritor is also amusing and pleasurable

Again, I must emphasize that it is the magic of Geroge Constantin that makes this worthwhile, with a different actor, The Inheritor might have dull, we also have this situation, the free world has an Orange Charlatan in command, and there is this sense of déjà vu, we cannot take much more of this, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels might not work…

 

And that is another splendid comedy, with Steve Martin and Michael Caine in superb form…you would not conceive of Ludovico Ribera as anything but a sort of a Joker, maybe a con man, in the beginning, later we see it is more complex, except now we have https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/01/confidence-man-making-of-donald-trump.html a much worse leader

What we could say in his defense, is that the man is demented, he does not know what he is talking about – the peace negotiation for the war in Iran are ‘boring’, if you can believe it – albeit he was always a braggadocio, he was not even in the major league in real estate in New York, he has always been bluffing, pretending

 

To end with, I had a little furious exchange a few hours ago with…the son of The Inheritor aka the Great George Constantin, I was on my bike and the son was on an e-scooter, coming the wrong way, in a lane for bicycles, and in a place where we could clash and I said something nasty, and he responded with ‘pula mea’, I had not seen he is the man with those genes, but there it is…

  In The Fade aka Auf Dem Nichts, written by Hark Bohm and Fatih Akin In The Fade has won the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film, although in this cinephile's opinion, Una Mujer Fantastica- which has won the Oscar in the same category- Nelyubov or The Square would have been better choices. Having said that, Auf Dem Nichts is a very good, significant, remarkable feature, that attracts attention to violence against minorities, in this case the Kurdish community in Germany. It is therefore not one sided, we do not have only Muslim lunatics killing innocent "infidels", but also some extreme Europeans murdering the other side. The problem is that, unacceptable, horrifying and vile as these acts are, it appears that the overwhelming majority of atrocities are committed by zealots acting in the name of Islam- radical and unrepresentative as they are for this supposedly peaceful faith, although there are passages in its holy book that seem to insist on a violent jihad and ultimat...
