On The Town by Betty Comden and Adolph Green was the Winner of The Oscar for Best Music, Scoring of a Musical Picture, and it is one of The New York Times’ Best 1,000 Movies Ever Made, nevertheless, it does not make it on my Top 500, or even Top 5,000 for that matter…you have thousands of notes on films from The NYT 1,000 and other lists on my blog https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/09/do-you-have-any-feedback.html

7 out of 10
I do not see
why this motion picture made it on The New York Times’ Best 1,000 Movies Ever
Made, but then I am not a fan of musicals – one aspect intrigues me, the name
of one of the writers, and this reminds me of https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/08/how-about-adolf-based-on-play-by.html How About Adolf?
This is a
film I enjoyed, and there are perhaps more than two more versions, an Italian and
a Romanian one, I think, the subject is both comical and rather gruesome: a
baby has to have a name and the question is…What About Adolf, Adolph Green was
born before the name of the mad dictator became synonymous with monster
On the one
hand, it is obvious that taking such a name – the original work is called Le Prenom
– is inviting worse than mockery, and the child should have such a burden, but
then, if we start eliminating, Stalin was called Joseph, so that would have to
be out, incidentally, that was also the Christian name of Mengele…
https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/01/the-kid-stays-in-picture-by-robert-evans.html I like to write about this story I
have read in The Kid Stays in The Picture, by former actor, producer, and head
of Paramount, Robert Evans, which involves Frank Sinatra, one of the lead
thespians of On The Town, and not a favorite of mine
he was
married to Mia Farrow, and this makes the actress an extraordinary human being,
to be the consort of Sintra and then Woody Allen, I see them as opposites, even
if they share a quite disturbing sort of maleness, anyway, Sinatra wanted
Farrow to end her participation on a motion picture she was starring in
she refused
and that may have ended her marital status, I am not sure what I have read in
the book about this, however, at the end of filming Rosemary’s Baby https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/06/rosemarys-baby-by-ira-levin-10-out-of-10.html
she wnated some...advertising
Rosemary’s Baby
proved to be a huge success, both at the box office and with the critics, while
the movie Sinatra had been making was a flop, so Mia Farrow wanted Evans to
take a two-page ad: on one side the takings of Rosemary’s Baby and on the other
whatever her (ex?) spouse did, I thought that funny
Plus, it
changed my view of Frank Sinatra, and I now tend to reject the features he is
in, even the better ones https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/08/from-here-to-eternity-based-on-novel-by.html such as From Here To Eternity,
albeit the latter had him in a supporting role, and then Burt Lancaster is
towering over all- you should see The Leopard, by the way
