Contempt, or Disprezzo, which was called Ghost at Noon in English, is one of my favorite books https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/02/contempt-by-alberto-moravia.html and I was mesmerized by The Time of Indifference too – Contempt even has a outré theory on The Odyssey and its main protagonist

 

Alberto Moravia explains the long journey in a different way: Ulysses or Odysseus did not want to return to Ithaca, Penelope mainly, and that is way he stalled for time, it was not the Cyclops, nor the infamous sirens, Circe managed to delay him for some time, but it was his mindset, which I must say is a very original proposition

Some of the scenes from Woman in a Black Cloak and the other Erotic Tales are quite bizarre, I have been thinking what would happen today, they would not be published I gather, they would find their way on the internet, but then there is that issue of ‘freedom of expression’, expect there are corners which should be inaccessible

The other ‘Erotic Tales’ I have read recently were by…women, and I think that makes them more ‘acceptable from a political point of view, as in politically correct’, except that has changed with the arrival of American Orange Psycho at the helm, and his MAGA cult, they are obsessed with maleness, macho and the rest

 

They would like The Story of O https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2026/02/the-story-of-o-by-pauline-reage-is.html or maybe they would not, seeing as their cult leaders have weird preferences, love for dictators, then there is Lindsay Graham and other such scoundrels, BDSM seems mild to put next to them, they prefer torture
