Harry Potter and The Philosopher Stone by J.K. Rowling is ranked 236th on The Greatest Books of All time site, it is clearly an immense success, along with all the other parts of the franchise – only this one has more than 11.5 million ratings on Goodreads, except that for the purposes of this space (which belongs to me, more or less) Harry Potter One, and the rest of them, although I may take the trouble to put in a few lines for the rest of them as well, is a waste of time, even if I have to admit I can speak (in a way) only about the adaptations, which I saw when my daughter, Hannah, was a child and this was ‘a thing’, I wonder if she liked it – this should be ‘the whole review’, even if there is some more down there – you also find thousands of notes on books from The GOAT and other sites, and on films from The NYT 1,000 Best Movies Ever Made on my blog https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/09/do-you-have-any-feedback.html

6 out of 10
I have here
an older take on a Harry Potter installment, for some outré reason, it is on
Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2026/03/note-on-harry-potter-and-chamber-of.html it leads one to the YouTube channel,
and now I realize that it could not be a favorable view, though I forgot about
it
If I were to
consider it notable, worthwhile, then there would be something in writing, a
‘review’, but there wasn’t, furthermore, when searching on my vast blog (and
then there are older versions, for which I forgot the password, hence newer
pages) there was only The Chamber of Secrets, nothing else on Opotter…
This is what
Hannah called him, ergo she must have been three or four, she could not say his
name yet, not that it is worth a lot of trouble, in my opinion, as I have made
clear…and then there is unpleasant J.K. Rowling, perhaps the first writer to
become a billionaire, and one with an animus for transgender people and others
Intellectuals
https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/01/intellectuals-by-paul-johnson.html by Paul Johnson is a formidable
book, that gives you insight into the lives of Leo Tolstoy, Henrik Ibsen,
Ernest Hemingway, Jean Jacques Rousseau and others, and we see that great minds
have very dark corners indeed
I am cynical
here and say that J.K. Rowling does not fit the description – which only goers
to prove how silly, to use a euphemism, I am: she made so much money, maybe she
is worth many billions now, what with new series and trillions of sold copies,
and billions of people enjoy her work and I am denying this from my humble
corner
Which brings
me to the shortest joke I know: ‘Pretentious? Moi?’ this is from Fawlty Towers https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2024/11/fawlty-towers-by-john-cleese-one-of.html on the other hand, what on earth is
so splendid about Harry Potter – by the way, I liked the young actors, and
appreciate the fact that one of them is clashing with Rowling on transgender
rights – a child wizard, or magician?
Incidentally,
if The Philosopher Stone is so nauseatingly high on The Greatest Books of All
Time site, 236, then the whole boxset is lower than 16,000 and then the Chamber
of Secrets is under the two thousand threshold – in other words, they are not
so overwhelmingly successful, at least according to some parameters
‘The Lake
Wobegon Effect is a cognitive bias where individuals consistently overestimate
their abilities, believing they are above average compared to others’ – you
find this in Lake Wobegon Days https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/01/lake-wobegon-days-nine-out-of-10.html only here I see the hoi polloi over
rating Rowling
