Stand Up by Jerry Seinfeld

 Stand Up by Jerry Seinfeld

Acclaimed, appreciated, with multiple awards and a great wealth, Jerry Seinfeld is still well known, even if his show has been aired for the first time decades ago.

I had the chance to listen to a CD with highlights and enjoy most of the jokes.
Some are not hilarious.

I do not appreciate the B.O. Joke that opened the line up, maybe because I was a sort of an alien in the US, paid miserly wages by AT&T and then I identify with the cab drivers, even if not with the BO.

But then the other takes on various male habits, Chinese rejection of forks and much more are excellent.
The Doctor's waiting room is a perceptive moment.

People who wait there are indeed more concerned with the others sharing the space, than reading the magazines:

"- I wonder what he's got"

Then there is another room, after the waiting room and Seifeld is accurate and funny in describing what happens there...

-          Take your pants off
-          But it's my head...
-          Take them off
-          Now the doctor is ready for you

And then the comedian wishes he would at one point be able to say...

-          I am not ready for you, Doctor!

The observations regarding male behavior are mostly correct and humorous.
The idea that men think of nothing is part of the jest, but I was not thrilled.
Granted, there are attitudes and people that support the hypothesis...

Trump and his supporters for instance...

Why do men use the horn when they pass a- generally beautiful -woman?
It is absurd and the Seinfeld comment is perfect...

-          What do you think she would do?
-          Take off her shoes and run after the car, hold on to the bumper?
-          At a traffic light she would say...
-          It's good you did that, otherwise I wouldn't have known how you feel...

I am not sure about the idea of women faking orgasms and men having no problem with that.
Which of course reminds one of the famous scene from When Harry Met Sally and the Meg Ryan fake orgasm.

The suggestion that a date is much like a job interview that can go into the night is pertinent and humorous.
Jerry Seinfeld then adds:

-          Of course, there are not many job interviews in which you could end up naked...

The observations regarding childhood were among my favorites.
A child could go with anyone if he or she has candy, which is funny and scary at the same time.

Children do say wait up and the adults use down a lot in the communication with their offspring

-          Calm down, sit down...

And to end with one of my favorite lines from the comedy show:

-          Serenity Now!
