Dazzling

This is a mesmerizing work.
It is one of the most startling chef d'oeuvres that I listened to.

And I listened to it repeatedly and this is the second rating of the same book, since I heard the lines again in the past days.
In the pool, of all places.

With this new technology entering every corner of life, I took advantage.

I swim every day, from Monday to Thursday for Half an hour and use a device to listen to an audiobook.

And what can give you more energy, positive emotions than a poem by Walt Whitman.

Scholars, writers and experts have included Leaves of Grass on the Guardian list of best 100 books ever written.

Some would argue with that.
Looking for some quotes, I found a comment, on the first page of the Google search that spoke in rather defamatory terms about Song of Myself...

The most egotistical creation ever...
It is all about me, myself...

That may be one way to look at it, but I beg to differ.

I think Walt Whitman is enchanted and amazed with everything, all the universe, including himself.

It is more a journey of discovery and awe than an appraisal.

The conclusion is we are all great, all the world is fabulous and not just the poet.

Song of Myself has played a crucial role in my life.

Three decades ago, we had a show called

„Poezia Muzicii Tinere...PMT”

It was a one man performance, Florian Pittis being the star, producer, disc jockey and everything else for this phenomenon.

The production was built around Song of Myself and it was grandiose, fabulous.

Another astonishing aspect was the fact that it was so fantastic in Romanian.

In a strange twist, when I first saw the original, I felt it sounded better in translation.
The only time when that happened.

There was another important fact.
I had a friend who has died and he used to recite the whole Song of Myself, whenever we organized a soirée, a shindig or something.

I must have heard some of these fantastic passages hundreds of times.

And it was elating to hear it again recently.
