50 shades of grey by E. L. James

Lame

This is so popular that I am guessing there would be a tone of ratings and a few thousand reviews on goodreads.

-          What is the point of adding to the clutter?

-          For starters, this will be negative- a spot of dark matter in a sea of pink fluff…

Furthermore, I dare say that the book is no big deal, even if I did not read more than a few chapters, which were enough.

To be fair, I wish I could right as bad (if I am consistent in my criticism) or as well, if I am to establish as a reference point my own mumblings.

But if we are to compare 50 Shades with Maugham, Proust, Flannery O’Connor then there is very little to say.

And a question pops up:

-          Why would you want to read 50 shades instead of Catch 22, The Grapes of Wrath and books in the same super- league

I for one was curious to see what everybody talks about.

I try to keep up to date with the films coming out and I could not help but notice all the buzz around the upcoming screen version.

But I will keep this note short, for the main, if not the only purpose it serves is to remind me of the experience caused by a book.

And this work is forgettable.

The author stroke gold with it and we need to congratulate him/her…I am not even sure if the author is a woman or a man.

And to be fair, a reader could find interesting aspects and perhaps even find himself caught in the plot.

Maybe even aroused, for the erotic allusions and thoughts are present and alluring right from the first chapters where I stopped.

I am not prudish, but I do not read literature to be sexually exited.

It is just not my thing.

And I do not blame those who find this rewarding.

I used to read Ion and The Decameron, when I was a teenager – for the sexually (more or less) explicit adventures of the characters.

Now I find that lame.

But hey, who am I to judge?

After all, this book sold millions of copies and now with the upcoming screen version, it will make millions more interested in the “action”

I should stop talking and start producing the same kind of mommy porn” that would put money in my pocket and envy elsewhere.
