Deliverance by James Dickey is one of The 1,000 Novels Everyone Must Read, ranked 908th on the Greatest Books of All Time site, and this is a rare situation, for the adaptation for the big screen is a spectacular work as well, included in The New York Times’ Best 1,000 Movies Ever Made – magnum opera from these and other lists are reviewed on my blogs, where you find more than five thousand notes, a reason to avoid this address or visit https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/02/is-this-unique-could-it-make-money.html

10 out of 10

This is an incredible story, although, what is ‘credible’ has changed, what with the free world displaying an orange chimpanzee as leader, you could think of The Planet of The Apes https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/08/planet-of-apes-based-on-novel-by-pierre.html MAGA would be in charge now

There is another bizarre connection between Deliverance https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/06/deliverance-screenplay-by-james-dickey.html and the Apes aka MAGA

Jon Voigt is Ed Gentry in the movie adaptation, and the thespian – though very good, just think Midnight Cowboy – is one of the tiny minority in Hollywood (maybe less than 1%) that supports the Orange Woland

I better be careful though, I may have been kicked out of Goodreads, with my massive presence and positions in the first couple of places for my land, in terms of reviews posted and what not, in part because of my nausea connected with this idiot

Putin has just met his buddy in Alaska, where the former kept on with removing Zelensky, the West has achieved nothing, on the contrary, the despot has been legitimized, smiling as he drove in the Beast, the mass killer

Back to Deliverance: “Lewis Medlock, Ed Gentry, Bobby Trippe, and Drew Ballinger are Atlanta businessmen who decide to canoe down the Cahulawassee River in the remote northern Georgia wilderness before it is dammed” and we have such a thrilling drama that gets tense, we sit on the edge while it is unfolding

Lewis is the macho type, strong, cynical, determined, brave – there is a banker I know at the gym who is like this – I told him, maybe I will remember to say that I made him immortal, by including this here – and he wants this trip

They get near the river, in a wild area – they have all voted for the nemesis, orange trash, the usual is ‘white trash’, only this one uses a ton of makeup, and they are against drag queens – where they have a…bajo duo

It is a challenge, fast water, gorges, but the unpredictable factor will be human – Ed and Bobby have been in the same canoe and they stop, when they do that, they are approached by a couple of strangers, who are very aggressive

Spoiler alert – this becomes a hostage situation, and Bobby is raped, when they get ready to put Ed in the same position, he had been tied, and his fate appears sealed, an arrow is shot and the assailant is killed

Lewis had waited for a safe shot, he had been worried that the two rapists had guns pointed at their victims, and saved the day…or did he? They argue over what to do, call the police, but how? What about a trial, where the jury would be relatives of the deceased; it gets even more complicated, this is a thrilling read, one is ecstatic at the end

Now for my standard closing of the note with a question, and invitation – I am on Goodreads as Realini Ionescu, at least for the moment, if I keep on expressing my views on Orange Woland aka TACO, it may be a short-lived presence

Also, maybe you have a good idea on how we could make more than a million dollars with this https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/02/is-this-unique-could-it-make-money.html – as it is, this is a unique technique, which we could promote, sell, open the Oscars show with or something and then make lots of money together, if you have the how, I have the product, I just do not know how to get the benefits from it, other than the exercise per se

There is also the small matter of working for AT&T – this huge company asked me to be its Representative for Romania and Bulgaria, on the Calling Card side, which meant sailing into the Black Sea wo meet the US Navy ships, travelling to Sofia, a lot of activity, using my mother’s two bedrooms flat as office and warehouse, all for the grand total of $250, raised after a lot of persuasion to the staggering $400…with retirement ahead, there are no benefits, nothing…it is a longer story, but if you can help get the mastodont to pay some dues, or have an idea how it can happen, let me know

As for my role in the Revolution that killed Ceausescu, a smaller Mao, there it is http://realini.blogspot.com/2022/03/realini-in-newsweek-participant-in.html

Some favorite quotes from To The Hermitage and other works

‘Fiction is infinitely preferable to real life...As long as you avoid the books of Kafka or Beckett, the everlasting plot of fiction has fewer futile experiences than the careless plot of reality...Fiction's people are fuller, deeper, cleverer, more moving than those in real life…Its actions are more intricate, illuminating, noble, profound…There are many more dramas, climaxes, romantic fulfillment, twists, turns, gratified resolutions…Unlike reality, all of this you can experience without leaving the house or even getting out of bed…What's more, books are a form of intelligent human greatness, as stories are a higher order of sense…As random life is to destiny, so stories are to great authors, who provided us with some of the highest pleasures and the most wonderful mystifications we can find…Few stories are greater than Anna Karenina, that wise epic by an often foolish author…’
