The Enigma in the Will based on Graves by Mihail Sadoveanu

The Enigma in the Will based on Graves by Mihail Sadoveanu

Eight out of 10, only for the performance of George Constantin, otherwise it would only be 6 or maybe even less

The only reason for watching this rather useless play would be to enjoy the presence on screen of George Constantin, the greatest actor I had the chance to see ‘live, on stage’ and one of the greatest artist ever to be born – he is in the same category with Jack Nicholson, with whom he shares a spark, an ability to dazzle, hypnotize and another aspect – when a prestigious Russian company was in this city – perhaps from the Bolshoi – they noticed, remarked this glorious talent, even if he practically had no lines, just as Robert Evans – departed now, but once an actor, producer and head of Paramount, author of the book on Hollywood The Kid Stays in the Picture – says that it happened when someone was auditioning and he remarked the man who had nothing to do with the scene, one unknown entity called…Jack Nicholson.

The play Enigma in the Will is lackluster and as aforementioned lives only on the magical presence of George Constantin, who only has about five minutes of screen time in all, diminishing drastically the appeal of such a banal, at times annoying production, wherein we have a loathsome figure, who has been recently a political candidate, willing to be president no less, just as that other quite lame character north of here, promoted by some of the most villainous, hurtful, catastrophic figures for our country – whenever this abject individual appears ion a film or play – and alas he is there often – the result is a calamity for the under signed.
To end with, before giving you a link to the video – yes, there is even a video made for such a sorry play, but I repeat for the third time, it is only in gratitude for a Sacred Monster, a god of the Theater, equal to Jack Nicholson and any other – there is an anecdote about Sadoveanu…but come to think of it, it is mentioned in this video note that you can find here…and I am sure you are dying to watch it…what do you say, I am wrong…well, it is here anyway:
