Intellectuals https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/01/intellectuals-by-paul-johnson.html
is a fantastic book by Paul Johnson in which you find memorable aspects about
the lives of Leo Tolstoy, Henrik Ibsen, Ernest Hemingway, Jean Jacques
Rousseau, and the chapter concerning Tolstoy makes Ivan Turgenev look splendid
While Tolstoy had this very dark side, his friend, Turgenev was
so munificent, especially when the two would be compared, the former would not
talk or write to the latter, after they had had a spat, and even when his
former pal was dying, the resenting, great novelist would not accept a
reconciliation, something I find reprehensible
Fathers and Sons https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/02/fathers-and-sons-by-ivan-turgenev-is.html
is acclaimed as the best chef d’oeuvre of Ivan Turgenev, and it is included on
the Greatest 100 Books of All Time list
In my view, the stories from The Sportsman’s Notebook relate
to Fathers and Sons, they seem to have made the fabric of the longer work,
which is memorable from a few points of view, one of them would be the
character of Bazarov, the ultimate nihilist, who gets to change his views somewhat,
or I think he might
Bazarov dies – no spoiler alert would be needed, right, for
I am not saying what happens at the end of this story, which I could, for it
has no reviews, and most likely, very few future readers, not those who (do
not) read these lines anyway – and towards the end of his life, his adamant
positions shift, just like I see with myself
He even fights a duel, because he acts in an inappropriate manner
with the wife of his host, kissing her at one point, after all, he rejects
everything, Michelangelo is nothing to him and the nihilists that I see as the
replicas of the MAGA crowd today, members of a cult that is creating havoc in
the world, just now, and over the past week
Granted, Bazarov was one thousand times above this Orange
Moron who is ‘the leader of the free world’, and will be for another god damn
four years, if the shit will not hit the fan, but there are parallels, they do
not respect, well, anything, this ‘very stable genius’ raised to the top wants
Canada to be part of the US
-
Along with Greenland, Gaza, Panama and who knows
what else, oh, and 500 billion worth of ‘raw earth’ – as the idiot kept calling
it, instead of rare – from Ukraine, because he thinks 120 equals 500, and why
not use extortion?
Influence https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/02/influence-by-robert-cialdini.html
is a quintessential psychology book by Robert Cialdini, and one of the
principles explained there is Respect for Authority, experiments have shown
what vile acts we can do, the Milgram experiment demonstrates that
Mass suicides have happened because such mad leaders can
convince followers to kill themselves, and in a way, we see that the stock
market crashed, stocks have tumbled and the world is almost helpless against
this crazy idiot, waving his tariffs around, just like a silly boy who has a
sword and is using it against innocents
Bazarov and his nihilists rejected art and all, but these
MAGA fools have turned against allies, they keep pushing against Canada, the
EU, humiliating a war hero, Zelensky, while embracing the murderous dictator,
Putin
Now for my standard closing of the note with a question, and
invitation – maybe you have a good idea on how we could make more than a
million dollars with this https://realinibarzoi.blogspot.com/2025/02/is-this-unique-could-it-make-money.html
– as it is, this is a unique technique, which we could promote, sell, open the
Oscars show with or something and then make lots of money together, if you have
the how, I have the product, I just do not know how to get the befits from it,
other than the exercise per se
There is also the
small matter of working for AT&T – this huge company asked me to be its
Representative for Romania and Bulgaria, on the Calling Card side, which meant
sailing into the Black Sea wo meet the US Navy ships, travelling to Sofia, a
lot of activity, using my mother’s two bedrooms flat as office and warehouse,
all for the grand total of $250, raised after a lot of persuasion to the
staggering $400…with retirement ahead, there are no benefits, nothing…it is a
longer story, but if you can help get the mastodont to pay some dues, or have
an idea how it can happen, let me know
As for my role in the Revolution that killed Ceausescu, a
smaller Mao, there it is http://realini.blogspot.com/2022/03/realini-in-newsweek-participant-in.html
Some favorite quotes from To The Hermitage and other works
‘Fiction is infinitely preferable to real life...As long as
you avoid the books of Kafka or Beckett, the everlasting plot of fiction has
fewer futile experiences than the careless plot of reality...Fiction's people
are fuller, deeper, cleverer, more moving than those in real life…Its actions
are more intricate, illuminating, noble, profound…There are many more dramas,
climaxes, romantic fulfillment, twists, turns, gratified resolutions…Unlike
reality, all of this you can experience without leaving the house or even
getting out of bed…What's more, books are a form of intelligent human
greatness, as stories are a higher order of sense…As random life is to destiny,
so stories are to great authors, who provided us with some of the highest
pleasures and the most wonderful mystifications we can find…Few stories are
greater than Anna Karenina, that wise epic by an often foolish author…’
