Andrei Plesu and Gabriel Liiceanu are the brightest minds we have in this realm and we could compare them, if that makes any sense, with any of the intellectuals in the world, and they would be in the compnay of equals...the fact is that there is a certain sense of humility in trying to take on this subject...

I am reading Epistolar, after finishing Joy in The East and West – which by the time this note is posted will be online at http://realini.blogspot.com/ - and it is flabberghasting, and by the way, this will jump from one subject to another, and it is not worth reading, you better find the works of the two luminaries

 

Epistolar is a book that has the correspondence between some (or all, this is still not yet clear to yours truly) of the most admirable brains of this place (and any other, if we look at how America votes now, Brazil, Argentina and so many other territories for that matter, then they are clearly ahead of what you have anywhere)

There are revelations, inuendo, and some of the most important themes we could think of, culture versus philosophy – Constantin Noica is the supremo, and he had this Contempt http://realini.blogspot.com/2017/02/contempt-aka-le-mepris-by-alberto.html for anything outside philosophy...

 

Most important maybe, it offers a backround, an insight into the elevated activities of Andrei Plesu and Gabriel Liiceanu, but they are also revealed as human beings, in conflict with some other important figures for the cultural life of this country, Alecu Paleologu and Radu Bogdan among others...

Alecu Paleologu is one of the old boyars, gentelemen, nobles that have been taken by the communists and snet to prison, and he is somehow prejudiced by Gabrile Liiceanu, when the latter mentions his ‚Separation from Constantin Noica’, a controversial text, which sparks a polemic that is conducted through correspondence

 

The boyar puts in contrast his time in prison, with the scolarship gained by Plesu and Liiceanu, in the first place, but the mix is compelling in that it is not the low quarrell of some hoi polloi, it is the exchange between ‚beautiful minds’, who replay to each oter with ‚beloved’ mister, and then one can have a lot of fun

A very rude, sardonic, perhaps abysmal take would consider the potential ‚attraction, homosexual love’, that is probably out of the question, we are dealing here with the nec plus ultra, the creme de la creme of the spirit, and when they confess their love, it is not a carnal feeling, it is all in the highest spheres.

 

Still, for the ordinary people, it could help to try this unorthodox, outre atttitude, becasue the air is so rarefied that you cannot breathe at times in the vicinity of these Super Minds – if one is into thsoe Marvel silly venures, then try this for a change, becasue this is where you have the real Super Spirits, you do not get what they talk about

Indeed, there are terms from Greek, German, French and more, and though they are translated, the clear message is that these Divine Souls are from a different universe than you and me, so it is in many ways comic that the low class of the spirit is trying to understnad the Language of the Birds – this is aother work by Andrei Plesu that is on the to-read list, together with a good number of others, some more accesible

 

Reading the very sophisticated, erudite authors could be a mistake – indeed, Andrei Plesu insists in interviwes that he cannot recommend a list of volumes, becasue it depnds on the reader and so many factors, some works could hurt – but you could also get a feeling of the ivory tower, te air in Bogota
